Update of Dark Matter search with the AMS experiment and the TASEH project
|
Understanding the nature of the Dark Matter is one of the most important issues in physics. It is also a very challenging task because we have so far not found any clue of its composition experimentally. Particle-natured cold Dark matter is currently the prevailing theory. However, there is no information about the masses and other properties of these hypothetic particles. The spectrum of possibilities is wide, and many search schemes, with very different technologies, are being conducted. We have been involved in the search for Dark matter in two projects. In the AMS experiment, we look for anomalous excess of antiparticles in the cosmic rays, which may come from the annihilation of Dark matter particles in the interstellar space. The most recent result of AMS do indicate a significant excess of positrons and antiprotons at a few hundred GeV/c2 energy. In parallel, we initiated a local haloscope experiment, TASEH, to search for eV/c2 Axion Dark matter. TASEH is preparing for its first data taking now.
In the presentation, I will update the latest status of Dark matter search with the AMS experiment and the TASEH experiment, and discuss the prospects of these experiments in the near future.
