The Kepler Center at University Tuebingen and the direct search for dark matter with the CRESST experiment

The Kepler Center at the University Tuebingen combines a rich experimental program with intense theoretical studies in particle physics and astrophysics. The talk will give an overview on the activities of the Kepler Center. Some more details will be given on the CRESST direct dark matter search. CRESST is using cryogenic calorimeters to detect dark matter induced nuclear scattering processes. Heat changes and scintillation light caused by a particle interaction are measured with tungsten transition edge sensors that provide thresholds of O(100eV) on the recoil energy. Such low energy thresholds will provide access to unexplored regions of the dark matter parameter space.
